What is GEO?

Generative Engine Optimization: earning accurate, useful brand presence inside AI-generated answers.

Definition

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of improving how brands appear when AI systems compose answers—ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and similar surfaces.

Unlike classic SEO, success is not only a blue-link rank. It includes whether your brand is mentioned, cited, or recommended when users ask buying and research questions.

Why it matters for B2B exporters

Buyers increasingly start research in AI chat interfaces as well as search engines. If your competitors’ pages are clearer sources, models will reuse their framing—even when your product is stronger.

GEO does not replace SEO. It raises the bar for source quality: specific entities, current facts, structured explanations, and crawlable HTML.

What GEO is not

GEO is not a switch you flip inside a model. You cannot buy guaranteed mentions the way some vendors sell “page-one packages.”

It is also not a license for thin AI-spun pages. Weak source material rarely becomes a trusted citation.

Foundations that transfer from SEO

Clear product entities, application pages, FAQ blocks, and technical crawlability still matter. Models need stable URLs and coherent site structure to reuse you.

Internal links and hub pages help both crawlers and synthesizers understand which documents are authoritative.

How SeerBoldor measures GEO

We maintain an agreed prompt list, sample answers on a schedule, and record whether the brand appears, how it is described, and which URLs (if any) are referenced.

Results are directional evidence for editorial priorities—not a scoreboard to game.
